The PCI Saints fell 4-1 on the road in game 1 of the best-of-3 semi final series against the CJS Olympiens yesterday in the Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey League.

PCI struck first in the game with an early goal from Maddie Shwaluk in the opening period. CJS was able to score 2 goals before the end of the period to hold a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

The Olympiens would go on to score 1 goal in the 2nd period and add another in the 3rd to pick up the 4-1 win.

Saints' head coach Jo-Anne Clarke-Gillespie comments on game 1 and their new opponents.

"We played a lot better than we did in game 1 against Vincent Massey in our first series. We're up against a very strong opponent, who plays a very, very strong team game. They move the puck very well and they play well without the puck as well."

She explains what they'll need to do in game 2 to shut down the Olympiens.

"They like playing the cycle game offensively and they like to keep a girl high in the slot, so our wingers have to be aware of that. We have to quit focusing on the puck carrier and be aware of all of the empty areas because they're really good at getting into open ice."

Game 2 is today at 4:00 at the PCU Centre, as the Saints look to even the series.
