It's playoff time in the Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey League, with the start of Round 1 today.

It sees PCI Saints facing Oak Park Raiders.

Saints coach Jo-Anne Clarke Gillespie says they had a couple of close games earlier in the regular season versus the Raiders, and a big win last week, but stresses this is a new season.

"We're going to build off how we played our last regular season game last week, on Thursday. It was probably one of our best games of the entire year, so we're going to build off of that, and try and continue playing with that kind of intensity like we did last week."

Clarke-Gillespie talks about the team's play in three meetings with the Raiders.

"We beat the 4-3 and then lost 1-0. In the 4-3 win, we probably just did enough to win. In the 1-0 loss it was a very lopsided game when it came to shots on goal. We really outshot them very, very badly, and they scored late in the third period to win the game. it was just one of those games where nothing was firing, but last week, in our final game (a 7-1 win), the team played a full three periods, and we moved the puck well, and played very, very well as a team."

Clarke-Gillespie acknowledges they're confident going into the playoffs,

"If you're not confident in the playoffs, then you're probably not going to go very far. We know what we can do when we play three full periods, and so we're hoping they can bring that intensity through the whole playoff round."

Today's game is a 2:30 start, at the BDO Centre.
