PLAP City Rollers are gearing up for a new roller derby season, and want you to be part of it.

They're holding the first of two information sessions tonight, at Tornado's restaurant in Portage la Prairie.

Rollers player Cassandra Wild outlines who and what they're looking for.

"Skaters, refs, or volunteers. We accept women and men, and children ages 8 and up. We'll have all the information there tonight that anybody will need to know to become a member of PLAP City Rollers, in any capacity."

Wild acknowledges recruiting more players is important for the team, but stresses their needs go beyond that.

"We definitely need more players. The last few seasons we've had to have several pick-ups for every game, so just finding enough people from other leagues that can come and play with you is challenge enough. So, that would help with that. The great part of joining roller derby is you get to go and be physically active, and exercise, and you get to make a bunch of awesome friends, too."

Tonight's information session's set for 6 o'clock.

The second information session is Sunday, October 16th, at the Southport gym, at 2 o'clock.
