The Portage Youth Soccer Association's annual jamboree took place last Saturday at Republic Park.

PYSA President Chris Tornato says 45 teams participated and the jamboree went very well.

"The kids seemed to have a great time, everyone had big smiles on their faces," says Tornato. "My takeaway that I love about it is just watching them walk away with just even the simplest thing as a medal."

Each team played two games and Tornato says the jamboree is a way for the kids to have fun and experience what a tournament would be like. Levels three through six participated in the jamboree this year but Tornato explains they're hoping to add a tournament for levels one and two at next year's jamboree, noting it's something they had done in the past.

Tornato adds he'd like to thank all the parents and kids for coming out.
