Tryouts are quickly approaching for the Prairie Fire Volleyball Club.

Prairie Fire Technical Director Derek Casper says the first tryout is December 11th, and you can register at the Prairie Fire website.

"Tryouts will be running all day, and it will be all different age groups. In order to register you have to go online and put your name on for what age group your child may want to try out for. They're guaranteed 4 or 5 tournaments with Provincials, as well as a shot at Nationals if the team decides to go."

The cost did go up this year but includes more for players and coaches.

"They're going to be giving coaches an honorarium for their volunteer time, and they're making a mandatory clothing fee. Each athlete will get a sweater, a uniform, and a practice shirt."

Casper's excited about the year, as they have a number of high-class coaches working with the club. He adds he'll be doing practice work with individual positions through the season and it's a great opportunity for volleyball players to build their skills. Here's where you can find more.
