PCI had some success at the Saints' Home Tournament this weekend.

Both the junior varsity and varsity Saints basketball teams started this past weekend.

The JV girls went 2-1 through their tournament. They knocked off Garden Valley in their opening game, lost to Henry G Izatt in their second, then beat Stonewall in the third to finish their weekend. They finished third place overall, and kick off their West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Tier 2 season tomorrow.

The varsity girls went 4-and-0 defeating MacGregor, Westpark, Northlands Parkway, and Stonewall. The team went into the tournament with little preparation as practices had been cancelled due to the storm. Head Coach Bill Marsh says despite the lack of court time heading in all 12 players contributed at different times.

"We hit the court and looked good for the weekend. We didn't trail much through the weekend, and every time we faced some adversity we dug down deep and pulled through."

They're on the court tonight as they host St. James. Marsh feels confident his coaching style will blend well with his athletes. "A very hard working team that are also very good sports," explains Marsh on what type of team he wants his girls to be. "We're hoping when we hit the court against St. James we will see a lot of that, and get the win."

The varsity Trojans also open their season up today against St. James. The Saints go first at 5 p.m. and the Trojans follow at 6:30.

Westpark's varsity girls also took part in the Saints' Tournament. They finished 1-3 after two days of competition. MacGregor's varsity girls also finished 1-3.
