Portage la Prairie curlers Dean Moxham and Dale Michie were honoured last night at the Portage Curling Club for their stellar year of curling through 2016.

The finished off the year with a Silver Medal at the World Senior Men's Curling Championship, after winning the Canadian Senior Men's National Championship a short while before.

"We've been members here for 30 plus years, and it's a great support system we have here," says Moxham. "We're just happy that so many people showed up here to give us a little bit of acknowledgement for something that we were pretty happy with."

"We're well over 25 years here at the club and we've both served numerous years on the executive," says Michie. "It's a special place for both of us through our entire lives and it's all brought about by the people you meet when you're here and that's why we continue with the sport."

Moxham and Michie didn't reach as far as they did this season, falling short at the Senior Men's Provincial Championship with Team Neufeld and settling for the silver.

"It was a good year for sure," adds Moxham. "You go to another Manitoba final you know there's a target on your back. The team we played against played fantastically, and they represented Manitoba well at the National Championship.

Michie adds the club certainly has changed over the last 25 years, but the people who go haven't. They're both looking forward to more years of curling at the Portage Curling Club.
