The president of the Portage Minor Hockey Association says 2015 was a great year for the organization, adding they're really looking forward to 2016.

Peter Fedak took over the role of president of PMHA on November 1st, 2015 and points to some of the highlights from this past year.

"We brought in electronic registration which was mandated by Hockey Canada and Hockey Manitoba, and we also brought in online registration. We had the Learn to Play program which was a great thing...the kids would come out and get free equipment and they got to try skating for 3 weeks and at the end, if they liked it and they registered for Portage Minor Hockey, they got to keep their equipment. We also brought back Breakfast Club this year."

Fedak says 2016 will focus on the minor hockey board itself, and development of everyone involved.

"One thing we're looking at is making sure the structure of the board and Portage Minor Hockey is set up. That's all the way from the roles and responsibilities of the board members and making sure they're well defined, and morphing in the financial rules. Player, coach and referee development are key aspects...we've done a lot for player development whether it's Breakfast Club, Learn to Play, power skating or goalie development."

Fedak's looking forward to 2016 and hopes for another successful year for Portage Minor Hockey.
