It's game day for the Portage Pitbulls Football Club's Cruncher and Bantam teams. Both are in action today at Rotary Republic Park in Portage la Prairie.

The Bantams are on the field first. They open their season against Sunrise at 11 a.m.

"Lots of new faces, and kids that have never played football before," says Miles Irwin, Bantam Head Coach. "The kids have made big strides since the start of training camp and we're happy to see where they're at in a real game and we'll see a lot of good game from a lot of new kids."

The Crunchers are on the field in the afternoon as they welcome Interlake at 1:30.

"We've got a bunch of first-year players, and a few coming back from last year and everyone is excited," says Crunchers Coach Jason Hildebrandt. "We've been practicing since the beginning of June. The kids are excited, the coaches are excited and the parents are excited."

Both teams have been practicing a couple days a week and Hildebrandt feels it'll pay off. There are no Atom or Peewee teams this season as there weren't enough sign ups to field a team.
