In Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey, the PCI Saints won 3-1 over Westwood last night.

Saints' goals came from Paige Shwaluk, Maddie Shwaluk, and Kylee Nelson. Haley Swidnicki made 24 saves for the win. The PCI Saints' next game is Thursday, when they host St. Mary's at the PCU Centre at 3:45.

Meanwhile, the Saints served a beating to the St. John's Tigers last night in West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Tier 2 basketball at PCI.

The Saints dominated their way to a 65-11 victory, with each player registering at least a point. Saints' Justice Bryson led the way with 14 points, and talks about how the team stays focused in a blow-out like last night.

"It's all up to our coach. She makes sure that we're all on our games, even though we're up how ever many points."

Bryson talks about the learning experiences that come in a slow game.

"It's good, we worked all on our fundamentals, all our offense, and anything that had to do with more practice in a game to get ready for the tournament we are in this weekend."

The PCI Trojans were also in WWAC Tier 2 basketball last night. The Trojans fell 69-55 to the St. John's Tigers, in a game where they led 25-17 at the half. The Tigers poured it on in the 3rd quarter though, setting up a tie game heading into the 4th. The Tigers' momentum continued into the final quarter, pushing them to victory. Trojans' Head Coach Janey McDonald discusses the loss.

"Turnovers really cost us to date. Just careless passing, passing without a purpose. Defensively not getting back and not communicating on defense, it was pretty quiet on the bench and even on the court. That's a huge factor in that final gap. When we close the gap and we have a chance, that's where we need to step it up and have a little bit more intensity."

The Varsity Saints and Trojans are back at it tomorrow in Winnipeg.

Tonight in West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Tier 2 junior varsity basketball, the PCI Saints visit Churchill in Winnipeg. The Saints have already accomplished something they couldn't last season -- a regular season win. They're 1-1 so far this season, with their win coming over St. John's before the Christmas Break. Tonight's match starts at 5.
