In West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Tier 2 varsity basketball, the PCI Saints and Trojans walked away victorious tonight at PCI.

The Trojans won 86-47 over the Stonewall Rams, looking composed throughout the entire game. Trojans' Grade 12 player Rayne Meseyton had 15 points, and says it's good to be back from the break.

"It feels amazing. I think we're at our best right now, and I think we moved the ball very well and we were good in our transition offense. We just moved the ball a lot which led to easy layups."

The Saints also defeated the Rams. They won 54-52, in a back-and-forth game that could've gone either way. The teams were neck-and-neck at the half, with the Saints holding a 24-23 lead. Saints' grade 12 player Sam Turner had 7 points in the 4th quarter, and really took control of the game down low. She says a slow start contributed to the tight game.

"We started off slow, we weren't running it. We were scrambled because I think we kind of came in -- it's Stonewall -- we've had good experience with them before, and I think we were kind of expecting a win, I think out of most of the girls. Even though our coach told us to play hard, we weren't running our offense. I think by the 3rd and definitely the 4th we ran our offense, and that's what got us the win."

The varsity Trojans are back on the court on February 10th when they visit Elmwood. The Saints are off until Monday, when they host the Grant Park Pirates.
