Portage Collegiate Institute's junior varsity basketball teams were in West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Tier 2 action last night.

The PCI Saints demolished Stonewall 45-15 in Portage la Prairie. "We got an early lead in the first half and were never really challenged after that," says head coach Dave McLeod. "We smothered them in the first half and coasted in the second. Our scoring was very balanced again with nine of 12 girls finding the scoresheet."

The PCI Trojans came away winners after a trip to Winnipeg. They came back to win 59-56 over Grant Park. "It really was one of the worst first quarters we've ever played," admits head coach Darin Arnold. "We were down by 14 at the half and had to battle, and work very hard, to get the win."

The JV clubs are back in action Thursday. The Trojans host Westwood at 5, the Saints host Elmwood at 6:30.

The varsity clubs are on the court today. The Saints and Trojans are on the road to face St. John's.

Westpark's varsity clubs were in exhibition action in Elm Creek. The boys won 84-43 while the girls took out the Cobras 61-27. The boys visit Dufferin Christian Thursday. The girls host Shevchenko at Westpark School.
