The Portage Padres have a chance to win the Santa Clara Baseball League Championship tonight.

They won 2-1 over the Mavericks in Game 3 last night in Minnedosa in another defensive battle. Padres' First Baseman Tyler Butler gives a quick recap.

"Jason Kirkland pitched unbelievable. Kept us in the game the whole time and in the 7th inning Daylan Laramee came through very clutch for us with a bases loaded, two-out double to centre field."

Both games in Minnedosa have been defensive battles with the Padres coming out on top 2-0 in Game 1 and 2-1 in Game 3. Game 2 in Portage was a lot different, with 22 runs being scored between the two teams. Butler says they'd love to put up some numbers in front of their fans for the win.

"It'd be nice to get into a hit parade. It would be nice to finally have a game where we can hit the ball like we can, but we're confident with the guy that we've got going on the mound tomorrow that he's going to keep us in the game and hopefully, we can do our part offensively."

Make sure you get to the game a little early tonight to catch the League Awards before the game. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. at Rotary Republic Park.
