The Santa Clara Baseball League Final gets underway tonight with the Padres visiting the Mavericks.

It's the top two teams facing off for the championship, with Minnedosa taking home advantage after finishing 1st in the regular season. It's Portage's first trip to the Final, and First Baseman Tyler Butler says the semi-final monkey's finally off their back.

"It's about time, that's the feeling. We've lost in the semi-finals the last couple of years and we've never had this opportunity."

The Padres and Mavericks tied 8-all in their first meeting, and the Mavericks won the second thanks to an error-filled inning from the Padres. Butler says they've come a long way since then.

"We just need to stay consistent. I think we've improved from those bad innings, and every out is very important. Limit the errors and play good offense, I think that's what we're going to have to do."

Tonight's game is at 6:30 to allow for the possibility of extra innings in Minnedosa.
