The Portage Padres picked up wins in both games of their double header against Ebb and Flow today in Santa Clara Baseball League action.

The first game of the afternoon was at 1pm and the Padres had no trouble getting by the Lakers by a score of 9-1. Padres' Pitcher Rod McLeod says game 1 went according to plan and everyone played well.

"We had Daylan Laramee on the hill, and he got his head together and pitched a great game, and he didn't give up too many hits. We played really sound defensively and didn't have any errors. We just played a good game and hit the holes."

The Padres jumped out to a 7-0 lead in game 2, only to see the Lakers fight back to make the score 7-5 with only a few innings to play. McLeod says the team wasn't too worried when the score got close.

Padres' Pitcher Jason Kirkland "Sometimes that happens; they just started to hit the holes here and there, but we just needed to calm down a bit. We threw Jason Kirkland in to pitch and we got a few more runs so we had a bit of a cushion going into the last inning, which helped. Now here we are with 2 wins."

The Padres look to stay in the win column on Wednesday, when they play Carberry.
