The Portage Padres won 8-7 over Carberry last night in Santa Clara Baseball.

The teams exchanged runs through the first 5 innings, when the Padres finally broke away with 4 runs in the top of the 6th. Pitcher Rod McLeod gives his thoughts on their performance.

"We through the ball alright. Both myself and Dustin (Donald), I felt like we controlled the tempo a little bit. I gave up two home runs, it happens, oh well. The biggest thing was our bats saved us. We had a couple good innings at the end, played some good defense and shut the ball game down."

With the win the Padres move to 7-1-2, and remain half a game back of Minnedosa. The Mavericks were also winners last night, as they knocked off the Austin A's 17-4.
