It was a successful trip for Terriers' defenders Brett Orr and Dean Stewart at the World Junior A Challenge in Ontario, as they took home gold medals after defeating Russia 2-1 in the final.

Brett Orr says just being picked to try out for the team was amazing, but scoring a goal in a big game was incredible.

"In the USA game when I scored 1 of the goals was a pretty big highlight for me. Going into the tournament, I didn't really know what my role was going to be or anything, but I was just happy to be there and to do whatever the team needed. But when I was able to find the back of the net and the crowd kind of lost it, it was a pretty exciting moment for me. I jumped into the glass, and the 'celee' didn't work out to good, but still pretty excited and I'm going to remember that one for a long time."

Stewart didn't play as big of a role as Orr did on the ice, but he knew his role and did what was needed when called upon.

"It took some adjusting that's for sure. Playing less and less every game, it's definitely different. Say you only get 1 shift a period or something, and by the end of the tournament I think I was kind of getting used to it. Figuring out how to keep playing well, even though you're only getting 2 or 3 shifts a game. It was definitely an adjustment though."

Orr says everyone knows the rivals of team Canada, and it's not hard to get set for those matches.

"Most of the Russians were pretty decent, and they don't say a whole lot, but it's not very hard to get going for those games. You know the history behind it, we seen lots of their games at the tournament -- and we played them once before -- so we kind of knew what we were getting into. It's pretty hard not to find a pulse for a game like that."

Stewart and Orr will rejoin the Terriers for their New Year's Eve match-up against the second place Winkler Flyers.
