The Portage Terriers have tied a franchise record of 15 straight wins after a 6-1 victory over the Dauphin Kings. Things got off to a fast-paced start as Terrier defender Brett Orr marked the first goal of the game just 55 seconds in. Another two unanswered goals from the hometown team put them up by 3 before the end of the 1st period. The beginning of the 2nd looked much the same, as it took a little over a minute for the Dogs to find the back of the net once more, this time off the stick of Chase Brakel. With the Kings at a 4 goal deficit they were finally handed some good news as Shawn Bowles was led to the box, two minutes for cross-checking. This gave Dauphin the opportunity to get on the board as Landon Plett caught a one-timer and buried it to bring the score to 4-1. Shortly after leaving the sin-bin though Terriers' Shawn Bowles rallied his line-mates and moved the club to another 4 goal lead. The final seal came in the 3rd as Portage defender Cody Lightfoot banged-in his third of the season with a huge slapshot from the point.

With 5 games remaining the Terriers are poised to lock-up top spot as they have 96 points, a solid 13 ahead of the Steinbach Pistons. This has many fans comparing the club of today with that of last season and that's where Terriers head coach and GM Blake Spiller says they have a lot of skill-set on the bench.

Tomorrow's game gives the boys a chance at franchise history as they could be the first Terrier team ever to win 16 straight. It hasen't happened since back in the 1989-90 seaosn. It won't be an easy one though as they'll faceoff against the Virden Oil Capitals who are still fighting to hold on to home ice advantage early in the playoffs. Spiller says staying focused on the game and not worrying about records is something the team knows is expected of them.

Puck drop is set for 4:30pm at the PCU Centre.
