The Portage Judo Club travelled to Fort Frances over the weekend to attend the Borderland Judo Tournament.

Judo Club's Head Coach Brian Case says it was quite the successful weekend.

"I was really happy. The object of us travelling that far to Fort Frances was so that we allowed the judoka fighters to compete against some people that they hadn't seen before. So we took 6 fighters and got 6 medals, I was really happy about it."

Case says his fighters were a little shaky to start, but really found their groove as the tournament continued.

"I hope that it does big things for them. I know that the first matches, a lot of them had a lot of nerves. It was a beautiful facility, and actually had a couple of comments from coaches about how well our fighters had fought there."

Up next for the Portage Judo Club is Provincials in Virden on April 2nd. They're hosting a tournament as well on April 16th.
