The MJHL recently announced Brandon's Kevin Saurette as the league's new Director of Operations.

League Commissioner Kim Davis says it's a new position, and something that he's been recommending to the board for a long time. Davis is excited to be sharing some of the load, to focus on bigger things.

"It'll give me an opportunity to look at other -- sort of broader -- important things for the league in terms of helping us grow as a league, and helping improve our image and brand -- not only within Manitoba -- but the entire country. So there's a lot of good positives that are going to come from it."

Saurette has long history in Junior A hockey, Major Junior hockey, CIS hockey and even professional hockey in both North America and Europe. Davis says he'll be looking after the day to day things like suspensions, trades, and protected player lists. As well keeping the MJHL standard high.

"All the things that the teams do with regard to operating, and putting on game day's and all that sort of stuff. Not in him doing those things, but just ensuring the various standards we have for how teams put on a game. That all those are met and applied with the standards of the league."

Saurette holds an Masters of Business Administration from Ulster University, in the UK. Davis adds his education combined with his experience, should help him in his new position. Saurette officially steps into his new role on August 4th out of the Winnipeg office.
