Both Central Plains Capitals Midget Clubs are on the ice today.

Central Plains plays host to Southwest in Portage for Manitoba AAA Midget hockey. The Caps lost 6-2 to Pembina Valley earlier this week and Head Coach Brad Gnidziejko says there's a simple formula to get back to their winning ways.

"Just pure hard work. Pull up your bootstraps and just work through it. Simplify your game and make sure you're putting your best effort in every time you step on the ice, that's it."

Southwest is 7 points back of the Caps at 10-9. That game starts at 4 p.m. at the BDO Centre.

In the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League, the Caps are in Winnipeg to face the Avros this afternoon.

The Caps are 3-7-2 this season and are slowly falling away from the pack as the top 3 teams are tied with 20 points, and fourth's at 19. Winnipeg is one of those top teams and sit 10-3 this year with 3 overtime victories. The Caps have played well against the Avros this season, falling 2-0 in their first meeting and hitting 3 posts in the shootout in the second to suffer a 2-1 loss.

They go at 4:45 p.m.
