It's all tied at 1.

The Minnedosa Mavericks tied things up in the Santa Clara Baseball League Championship Final last night with their 14-8 victory over Portage.

The Mavericks were up 4-3 heading into the 3rd inning when they had back to back 4 run innings to make it 12-8. The Padres' closed the gap by 4 thanks to a Grand Slam from Catcher Daylan Laramee, who says he tries not to focus on getting one out of the park while at the plate.

"I truly just wanted to make contact with the ball. I was lucky that it went out, but at that point in that kind of game you just want to make a good contact with the ball and hopefully it will score some runs."

The Padres would add 1 more in the 6th, while the Mav's added 2. Laramee says they're going to have to be a lot better to compete in game 3.

"They have a 1-to-9 batting line-up. Every guy can hit for them, so it's going to come down to pitching, infielding, outfielding, even our batting to compete with these guys."

The best-of-5 series is tied at 1. Game 3 is Monday in Minnedosa at 6:30 p.m.
