The Central Region Girl's Soccer Club has an exhibition game tonight in preparation for the upcoming Manitoba Games.

Winnipeg Gold makes the trip to Portage la Prairie to face the Central Region team at Rotary Republic Park. Central head coach Bryan Mintenko says it's a good chance to see their direct competition at the Games.

"They're in our pool for the Manitoba Games, so they're just looking for some extra competition before the event. It'll give us a good chance to see what they're like. We had a tournament this past weekend and played 3 teams that aren't in our pool. So this is a good chance to see what Winnipeg Gold is like."

Mintenko says they've been working hard for a long time, and the girl's are getting excited for the big event.

"We've had quite a few practices over the last several months, and we were training all winter. It's a tight-knit group now, they're very familiar with each other, and it'll be a tough challenge, but I think these girls are up for it."

Tonight's match starts at 7:30 at Rotary Republic Park.
