The Portage Collegiate Saints' struggled at their home tournament this weekend.

They finished the tournament 1-2-1 and fell 10-7 in extra-innings to Martin Academy in the AAA third-place match yesterday afternoon.

"We had a great time this weekend," says Cam Asham, head coach. "We were short pitchers this weekend and that was definitely the challenge for us but we had three girls step up, Natanish Wall, Marisa Fraser, and Maddie Shwaluk took the ball and did a very good job for us. We're really proud of how they stepped up, everyone really this weekend. All the girls volunteered for positions and everyone seemed to fill the roles we needed them to."

The Saints and Neepawa went the distance and finished in an 18-all tie. Asham says that's one thing they don't have to worry about as they usually don't have trouble putting up numbers.

The Saints are back in action tomorrow when they welcome Carman for a Zone 4 fastpitch doubleheader at Rotary Republic Park.
