12-year-old Portage Youth Soccer player Shawn Green's gotten some pretty big news recently.

He's been selected to attended a clinic and tournament in Europe this spring, and summer. Green says it was a shock when he found out he was chosen.

"Yeah I think it's really good that I got chosen to go to that. I didn't really think I was that good but," he laughs. "I guess so."

Green's been interested in soccer since he was 5-years-old, and recently has been playing in Winnipeg with a travel team. Green talks about why he loves the sport, and how he's been able to accomplish so much.

"I like that it's very physical and fast paced, and it doesn't involve too much hands-on stuff. Probably all the camps that have been held in the rural area, like Winnipeg and Portage. All those places."

Unfortunately Green will not be able to attend the spring session in Italy, due to very high costs. He'd like to pair soccer with his schooling.

"Yeah, probably. High school there's a team at PCI so I think I'll go in for that. University, try out for that and maybe go in too."

Green hopes he'll be able to save enough for the trip to Italy during the summer.
