A local hockey player's been named to Team Manitoba's U-16 team.

MacDonald Manitoba's Ben McCartney will be suiting up for the province at the 2016 Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup October 19th to 23rd in Calgary. McCartney's looking forward to getting on the ice with the best players in the Country.

"It feels great. To be able to play with the best players around the province against the best players around Canada, it's a great opportunity."

McCartney was the 4th highest Manitoban taken in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. Find out more at Portage Online.

Also named to team Manitoba's U-18 women's team is 16-Year-Old Corinne Schroeder of Elm Creek. The 5'11'' goaltender will turn 17 before the U-18 National Championship's start date November 9th to 13th in Regina.
