It took over 40 minutes for the PCI Trojans to open the scoring in their 2016/17 Zone 4 Hockey Season last night.

PCI shut out the Garden Valley Zodiacs 4-0 at the PCU Centre, thanks to a flurry of goals in the final period. Layne Rintoul, Steven Vey, Jaden Bohn and Jordan Van Aert each scored in the victory. Trojans' Head Coach Chris DeLong says nerves seemed to play a factor at the start.

"I don't know if it was opening night jitters or nerves, but it took a while for the boys to realize (Garden Valley) came to play. Although they were smaller than us, they took it to us right off the hop and I think it caught us off guard a little bit."

The Trojans finished the game with 36 shots on net. DeLong says their off-ice chemistry is definitely present on the ice.

"We have 9 Grade 12's, 5 Grade 11's, and 5 Grade 10's, but it's like they've played together for a long time and that's what's going to count."

The Trojans' next challenge is WC Miller on Thursday at the PCU Centre.
