The Keystone Cup Western Canadian Junior B Hockey Championship starts today in Arborg, Manitoba.

The Keystone Junior Hockey League's (KJHL) Arborg Ice Dawgs are the host of the event and General Manager Ivan Gulay's excited about the opportunity.

"It's huge for the team and the community. It's a great event coming here starting this morning, we did a lot of work to get this thing all prepared and we're ready to go. People around town are pumped and there will be a lot of fans, I can tell you that."

The Ice Dawgs lost in the KJHL Championship to the Peguis Juniors in six games, and they'll open the tournament this morning at 9.

"We're going to have a packed barn for that, and we're looking forward to it," says Gulay. "Peguis is a strong team and I'm happy they're representing Manitoba with us. It seems we can't win in their arena, but it's the same way when they come to Arborg."

The other four teams involved are the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Champions the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, Prairie Junior Hockey League Champions Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals, Lakehead Jr. Hockey League Champs Nipigon Elks, and the North East Alberta Junior B Hockey League Champions the Wainwright Bisons.

The Ice Dawgs also play this evening against the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals. Get the full tournament schedule here.
