Westpark's varsity basketball clubs were in Zone 7 action against Elm Creek in Portage la Prairie yesterday.

The boys won 57-47 over the Cobras. They closed the game out in the fourth quarter in a great back and forth game. "We were down and came back with a great effort to win," says boys head coach Ian Alford. "We had some great man-to-man defence and scored some timely three-pointers. It was a great team effort."

The varsity girls had no trouble sending the Cobras packing, winning 56-12 in a very one-sided matchup.

"We got a chance to practice a lot of things we don't get to in more intense games," boasts grade 10 player Juliette Tower. "Even though we were winning by a lot we never took it for granted or slowed down. We just kept on playing through the whole game."

The girls' next game is Thursday in Carman. The boys play Thursday as well, they host Elie.
