Two MacGregor Mustangs volleyball teams were successful over the weekend.

The Mustangs Junior Varsity Girls won the Elm Creek Volleyball Tournament. They knocked off the Carman Cougars in straght sets in the championship final. Head Coach Kyle McKrinstry says they're right on track to accomplish their start of the year goal.

"We're looking to repeat as Provincial Champs again this year. Our kids have been working hard with great results in all tournaments we've been in. They're little scrappers, they're willing to do whatever they need to do in order to win the point, the set, and the game."

The junior varsity girls' next game is a week from today when they host Erickson.

The Mustangs' varsity girls also brought home a championship over the weekend. They won the Minnedosa Varsity Girl's Volleyball Tournament after finishing last in their pool during round robin play. The Mustangs took out the home team 25-20 and 25-16 to snag the championship. Head Coach Marc Gaudet says the girls really pulled it together in the playoffs.

"It was gut check for the afternoon, an they kind of pulled it together. We didn't play very well and they knew that, they turned it around mentally and it all worked out for us in the end."

The varsity girls host Elton tomorrow.
