The Westpark Royals were in Zone 4 playoffs last night. The varsity boys won in straight sets over Elm Creek, after falling in 5 a couple weeks ago. Grade 11 hitter Carter Friesen gives his thoughts on the win.

"We just kept our energy the same, and this time we just made sure to finish the game. We worked a lot in practice on shutting down their hits which made it easy for us because we knew they were tipping a lot. Overall it was pretty fun."

The varsity boys will go for the Zone title Thursday in Rosenort. Westpark's varsity girls didn't fare as well on the road. They fell in straight sets to Rosenort.

In Zone 7 high school volleyball playoffs, MacGregor's varsity girls are the Zone 7 AA Champions with last night's win over Carberry. The Mustangs won in 4 sets, falling in the first and winning 3 straight to capture the title. MacGregor's varsity boys also won last night. They knocked off Minnedosa in a tight 4 set battle. Both are back in action Tuesday when they head to Elton for the Zone Championship Tournament.

The JV Saints didn't get many hits in their match because they scored most of their points right off the serve.

Portage Collegiate has a couple of teams in West Winnipeg Athletic Conference playoffs last night. The top-seeded junior varsity Saints breezed past John Taylor in straight sets at PCI. Jenna Biberdorf says they're pumped for their next challenge.

"I think we're all pretty excited. We're playing a tough team, but I think we'll all put a top effort into that one because they are a good team. It'll be a good game."

The Saints' are back in action Monday in Winnipeg. The junior varsity Trojans season came to a close last night in Winnipeg. They fell in straight sets to St. Paul's.

Volleyball playoffs continue tonight.

PCI's varsity clubs are in West Winnipeg Athletic Conference playoff action. The Saints host John Taylor at 4:30, the Trojans are in Winnipeg to face St. Paul's at 5.
