The Portage Collegiate Institute (PCI) Saints were victorious over Churchill High School yesterday in West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Tier 2 junior varsity basketball in Portage la Prairie.

"We really could have beat them by a lot more," admits head coach Dave McLeod after their 64-20 win. "It's hard to call a 44 point win ugly, but that's what it was. We've got to clean some stuff up against the better teams. It was a good victory but still a sloppy game."

The Saints face Churchill again next week in their final regular season match. A win would secure top spot in their division.

Zone 7 Playoffs

MacGregor's varsity clubs were on the court for Zone 7 playoff basketball last night.

The varsity boys won by default. Minnedosa informed the Mustangs they wouldn't be making the trip out shortly before the game, and there's been no word on if the game is an official victory. Head coach Myron Friesen says it should be counted, and they'll now face Neepawa for the Zone 7 Championship next week.

The varsity girls season came to a close last night. They fell 77-43 to Elton in the Zone 7 Semi Final.
