PLAP City Roller's Headstone Honeys are in Roller Derby action tonight.

Honeys' Skater Cassandra Wild's excited to get the season going, but says they're still encouraging skaters to come out and get involved.

"We got a couple new players, but we also lost some too. Some to moving, and some to retiring," she laughs. "We're still at a similar number to last year, but we're always looking for more. We're sitting at about 12 actual skaters right now, and unfortunately we'll be losing another one come June."

Wild knows the game can look very intimidating when watching in the crowd, but if you're interested you should really give it a shot.

"Many of us there right now had those same feelings," she says. "There were people there to help us get passed that initial fear, and there still are today."

Saturday's match is in Shilo on the Canadian Forces Base against the Wheat City Roller Derby League's Gang Gang. Wild says they've built a great rivalry with the Gang Green.

"We play against them every year, and we've always gotten closer. Last year I think it was a 10 point difference in our game against them, so it was a nail biter."

The match begins at 7 p.m.
