The Portage Gymnastics Club's registration night is Monday at the Southport Rec Centre.

The doors gym doors open at 6 p.m. and last year there was a line up that started around 12 p.m. Gymnastics Head Coach Tonya Thompson says despite the long line, things moved quite quickly once they started letting people in.

"I know last year we had parents tell us they stood out there since noon. I found once we opened the doors at 6 it flowed very well. I know last year we were finished within an hour and we were full, overfull."

Thompson says they do have a maximum number of students allowed per class, but they will try to accommodate everyone who signs up.

"We did end up accepting all the kids that were on the wait list. We have a cap for each class, a quantity that we know we can take for sure, and after we fill that we take a wait list. We usually sit down the night after it's over and go over it and see if we can squeeze in another class in any area or anything like that."

She adds the gym is great for their program and says they've got a lot of equipment.

"For girls, we have the floor, we have two full sets of uneven bars, we have a balance beam, the vault. For the boy's program, we also have the Pommel horse, the parallel bars to go along with the floor and vault. The only thing we're missing for the boys is the rings, which we don't have in our gym."

Registration starts at 6 p.m.
