A local swimmer cleaned up at his last meet. Central Plains Sea Lion's 13-Year-old Jared Vachon recently brought home 4 golds and 2 silver medals from a meet in Winnipeg. Vachon explains what it means for his swimming career.

"It means I'm moving up to the next level of swimming, and I'm getting up there with all the better swimmers in the province."

Vachon took gold in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 fly, and 200 Individual Medley, he took siver in the 200 free and 100 back. He was also awarded the High Point Award for 13-and-under Boys and Highest scoring athlete at the meet. Vachon talks about his next step.

Vachon on the block

"From here I'm going to a meet at the beginning of July called ManSask. I'm pretty excited because I think I'll be able to place there, and get a couple medals there."

He's not a stranger to the ManSask event, and know what it'll take to medal there.

"I've been there twice before, but to prepare for that meet I'm going to be training extra hard at the gym and in the pool."

Vachon is hoping for a strong placing so he can attend Nationals later this year.
