The 2016 NHL draft is on this weekend in Buffalo, New York, and former defensman for the Portage Terriers, Dean Stewart, is hoping to have his name called. Stewart played 42 games for the dogs last season, scoring 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 regular season points. Stewart shares his thoughts on possibly being drafted.

"Well it's pretty much every Canadian kids dream right from when they're 4 or 5 years old, I know it was my dream for sure, so getting drafted would be amazing."

Stewart is committed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha in NCAA Division 1.

"Nothings really going to change on my part if I get drafted or not, I'm still going to University of Nebraska-Omaha next year, I'm not going to put all my eggs in one basket and hope to get drafted but id would definitely be pretty amazing if I did."
