The Central Plains Female Capitals suffered a 3-0 loss against the Pembina Valley Hawks last night in Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League action.

Capitals' coach Nelissen explains they weren't very lucky.

"The second period; it's 1-0, they got a goal. Our girls push back really well; we're outshooting them, outplaying them, we had territorial control in the second. In the first period we come out 0-0, that's a good result, they might've had more chances than us but it was fairly even. And then we start carrying the play and then the second goal just wasn't a good goal."

He adds Pembina Valley's goaltender, Halle Oswald, was a solid player and although the girls were getting pucks to the net, they were unable to get them past the goalie.

"We just [have] got to find a way to get the puck in the net. It's been a struggle for us all year but not [last night], [last night] we actually got the puck to the net like we wanted."

Pembina Valley leads the best of five quarter-final 2-0 and Nelissen notes they are hanging by a thread.

"We're on our last life and there's nothing to save it for. The girls have got to come out with that same kind of intensity level and they've got to find that compete."

He adds they had the right competitive level last night but unfortunately had several players who were unwell.

The Capitals have their final shot at a win Sunday when they play the third out of five games against Pembina Valley.
