The Central Plains Female Capitals suffered a 5-3 loss to Yellowhead in this evening's MFMHL game.

The girls were down 4-3 at the start of the third period and their goalie was pulled in the final moments of the game opening up the net for the Chiefs' final goal. Capitals' Coach Ferdi Nelissen says this was their second empty-net-goal game of the season, adding they need to find a way to finish.

"We're young and we're not finding ways to finish, we have to keep working at it, keep pushing. We had our chances, there were three or four unbelievable scoring chances where we never buried the puck."

He stresses their number one goal is getting the puck to the net, noting when they did get to the net they scored. He adds the effort wasn't bad but to move forward and get a good spot in the playoffs they have to be able to take points off of the strongest teams in the league.

"Being close isn't good enough, we've got to find a way to win those games against the best teams in our league, and that's the teams we've been playing. You know, like [the] Avros, Westman and Yellowhead are all going to be fighting. They've got some veteran players, we're young this year, but we're right there, we should be able to take points off of them."

The Caps are hoping for redemption tomorrow when when they go to Selkirk for a rematch with Yellowhead.
