The Central Plains Capitals won 3-2 over Southwest Cougars thanks to a shootout in Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey this afternoon.

Both teams looked evenly matched through the first, but each netminder kept the game scoreless heading into the second. Central Plains finally cracked the scoreboard with a late second period goal from Braden Frank.

The next two goals came courtesy of Southwest, as they scored quickly into the 3rd, and again with 4 minutes to go in the game. Capitals' Jayson Brooks tied the game up with just 4 seconds to go in the game -- and after the overtime period solved nothing -- a shootout was declared.

The Cougars struck first, as their second shooter lit the lamp. Capitals' third and final shooter Ryan Sinclair was able to tie the contest at 1, and in the 9th round, Reilly Funk scored to win the game for the Caps.

The Caps next game is a Valentine's Date against the Kenora Thistles at the BDO Centre.
