The Portage Terriers are on the ice in one of 2 Manitoba Junior Hockey League games on the schedule tonight.

The Terriers won 5-3 over Waywayseecappo at the PCU Centre Sunday night, after falling 4-1 to Virden Saturday night. The Terriers' roster looks a little different than it did over a week ago as former Captain Adam Wowryk -- along with a few other dogs -- were shipped out not too long ago. Assistant Coach Paul Harland says there's always a small adjustment period for the new players, but he's confident they'll fit in quick.

There's always going to be a little time for them to get used to our systems, how we want them to play, and the right fit with the right players. So it's going to take a little while, but the longer they're here the more practices they get, the more comfortable they'll be."

Dauphin's struggled to find wins this year and having earned 1 this month -- which came over Winnipeg Saturday -- they don't seem to be getting any easier anytime soon. Terriers' forward Chase Brakel expects a desperate Kings club tonight.

"We expect them to be gritty, and to come out and work hard. So what we need to do is use our speed and work hard against them."

The Terriers and Kings go at 7:30 at the PCU Centre. The other game tonight features Neepawa in Steinbach.

Former Terriers Suiting Up

3 former dogs will get a chance to show the Terriers' coaching staff they may have made the wrong decision. Forwards Howard Yawitt, and Ashton Clark were both dealt as part of the Lycar/Picard deal in October. Former Terrier Keaton Leininger is also suiting up for the Kings. He was shipped out of Portage mid-way through last year's championship season and is tied with Clark as the Kings' leading scorer.

Neepawa Bound

Central Plains Capitals goaltender Miles Minor's been called up for his first game in the MJHL for tonight's game. He's 7-1 this year with a GAA of 2.75 and a .905 save percentage.
