Portage Terrier defenseman Dean Stewart has been named to Team West for the 2016 CJHL prospects game being held Jan 26 in Surrey BC. The team consists of players from the BCHL, AJHL, SJHL, MJHL and SIJHL, that the NHL central scouting has identified as players that could be selected in the upcoming NHL entry draft in June. They will face off against players from the NOJHL, OJHL, CCHL, QJHL and MHL.

Stewart who won gold with Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge in December is the only player selected from the MJHL. He says "It'll be an event that will obviously have a lot of exposure, but also a good test for me to see where I stand amongst the best players my age in the CJHL."

Stewart is looking forward to playing with former teammates. "It's going to be a lot of fun and another good experience for me. It will also give me the chance to see and play with some of the friends I made on team Canada West."
