The PCI Trojans will have to wait another year for a shot at the Winnipeg High School Football League Championship. They lost 21-0 in a hard fought battle with Dryden last night in the Vidruk/Currie Final.

The score was not a true testimonial to the Trojans' play throughout the game. Their offensive line struggled to hold back the Eagles' defenders, leaving little time for quarterback Tyler Morris to gauge the field, so they adapted quickly with their run game. "Both sides of the line, (Dryden) came to play and their motor just did not stop," says Head Coach Brent Irwin when asked about their opponents. "Our guys were trying, and some got a little injured in the game and were fighting through it, but hats off to our guys they wouldn't quit."

Tyler Fedak was brought down at the goal line in the 3rd quarter. The Trojans were down 14-0 at the time.

Twice in the game, the Trojans found themselves in the red zone but were stopped short on 3rd down at the Eagles' 1-yard-line. On the defensive side, the Trojans were stellar, but several large running backs seemed just too strong to be stopped at some points. They managed to hold the Eagles to only 14 points into the 4th quarter, giving their offense hope of a comeback.

Trojans Head Coach Brent Irwin speaks to their offensive struggle.

"We weren't getting time to be getting to be able to throw, so we felt we were comfortable in our run game but a couple of bad snaps and the drive dies. The guys played their hearts out, and we couldn't have asked for any more from them."

Grade 12 Branden Friesen says it's been an outstanding time with the club.

"From going just over 50% last year to 6-and-1 this year, that's a pretty big improvement, and it's all because of the coaching too. I want to say that I'm thankful for playing for the Trojans for 3 years, and I'm glad I got to make it this far."

Irwin adds there's no reason for the team to hang their heads.

"I want our players to enjoy being here, and the accomplishment of just getting to here. It was great for them, more than anything I wanted to win, but it just didn't happen today."

The Trojans Finished the years at 8-1 including playoffs.
