The Central Plains Capitals returned from their roads trips with split records.

In the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League, the Caps won their game-one over Norman 2-1 Friday night and fell 5-3 in the rematch Saturday afternoon. Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen feels they could've come away with 2 wins.

"We didn't think we were doing a lot different. We only gave up 15 or 16 shots the whole game and they scored 3 goals on their first 4 shots. We were actually very pleased with how the girls played, we were the better team both games but Norman just found a way to win the second game."

He says it's tough when the better team loses and they need to press on.

"We were getting shots through, we were using our point well and our points were getting shots through, there were some redirects. We're in every game and we just have to keep plugging away."

The Caps' next MFMHL game is Saturday against Yellowhead in Shoal Lake.

Central Plains split their weekend with the Thistles in Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League action in Kenora.

They fell 4-1 Saturday evening but bounced back for a 4-2 win yesterday afternoon. Caps' Assistant Coach Doug Ushakas outlines the difference between the two games.

"We stayed out of the penalty box. We enjoyed the powerplays in game two, and in game 1 we were a little too aggressive and I think we retaliated and I think it cost us."

The Caps are 12-7-1 through 20 games and sit in 4th place. They're back in action Friday when they host Parkland.
