The Central Plains Capitals are on the ice in Portage la Prairie tonight.

They host the Yellowhead Chiefs in the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League. The Caps last win came over Interlake October 14th, but they've all been 1 goal -- or empty net -- games. Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen says they're competing with the best, which is a plus.

"We played two of the top teams even. So now it's finding ways to move forward and find those little things that will help us win those games instead being looking at what we think is a positive result, but on the wrong side of the score."

The Caps haven't allowed many goals this season 5-on-5 thanks to strong defensive structure. Nelissen says they now need to build their offensive attack.

"That's why we've been working on breakouts, working on progressing up the ice. We're making sure that when we're doing all that good work in our own end that when we get control of the puck we're being able to move up the ice and seek some positive results at the other end of the ice."

The Caps and Chiefs go at 3:30 p.m. at the BDO Centre.
