The Central Plains Capitals went 1-1 this weekend in Manitoba AAA Midget hockey in Portage la Prairie. They came out hot Friday and ran Parkland out of Portage after an 8-2 victory, then suffered a 9-1 beat down by the Wheat Kings Sunday at the BDO Centre.

The Caps allowed 4 goals, 3 of which were post-and-in, in the first 5 minutes of yesterday's game and couldn't get back into it. Head Coach Brad Gnidziejko says it was one of those times where everything that could go wrong did.

"It's so hard to dig yourself out when it gets like that. We got one and made it 5-1 and then it just sort of went from bad to worse. We were half a step behind, no good bounces, nothing really good came our way the whole way through the game."

He adds that one is in the record books and out of their heads. Get the full results from their weekend here. They're off until Wednesday when they visit Pembina Valley.

The Female Midget Capitals fell in back-to-back games against Yellowhead in the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League. They lost Saturday's match 8-1 with only 17 shots on net, and fell yesterday 5-0.

The losses drop the Caps to 3-7-2 on the season. They're off until Saturday when they visit the Avros in Winnipeg.
