The Central Plains Capitals took a 2-1 lead in their Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League best-of-5 Semi Final with last night's 2-1 double overtime win over the Pembina Valley Hawks in Morden.

Both teams came out firing in the first, but neither could find their way onto the scoreboard.

The Pace continued in the second, and the Hawks were able to to net their only goal of the night to take a 1-0 lead into the 3rd.

The Caps relentless assault paid off when Sheridan Oswald netted the game tying goal, off a great pass from Emily Upgang. The Caps out shot the Hawks in the 3rd period, but couldn't find the game winner before time expired.

A first 20 minutes of extra time solved nothing, so they regrouped for the another frame OT. Shortly into the second overtime Sheridan Oswald popped in her second of the game to give the Caps their second lead of the series.

Oswald talks about her game winner.

"I guess it started when we had some pressure going, and Mekaela Fisher gave me a really nice pass, and I was lucky enough to put it in the back of the net."

Caps' Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen felt it was a much better performance than Saturday afternoon.

"A real good start. We did a much better job defensively, we still made some mistakes, but we were much more solid. Then we progressed as the game went on, from about the 10 minute mark in the first period I thought we were the better of the two teams, although they were leading in the 3rd."

The Caps now have a chance to close out the series at the BDO Centre Wednesday night and Nelissen says preparation is key.

"We talked about that after the game. Celebrate for the moments and clear your plates like we just did. You have to forget about the next game, it's done, you have to look forward to the next game. We'll have a technical practice tonight, we'll move forward and work on some things we think we have to work on. We'll come out and we'll have to compete, that's all there is too it."

Game 4 is Wednesday at 7:45 at the BDO Centre.
