Ella Wiebe of the Central Plains Capitals has been named the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League (MFMHL) Player of the Week, the team announced.

Wiebe, from Winnipeg, strung together back-to-back wins for the Capitals this past weekend, beating the Interlake Lightning 2-1 and the Pembina Valley Hawks 2-1. The MFMHL rookie stopped 47 of 49 shots fired her way, posting a .959 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average.

"Ella is a hard working player on and off the ice," says Capitals head coach Ferdi Nelissen. "She's new to AAA hockey and her effort level has brought her to the point where this past weekend she stepped up and made big saves for us. She was instrumental in picking up those four points."

Wiebe is 5-6-2-1 with a 2.76 GAA and .880 save percentage in 16 games for Central Plains during the 2016-17 season.
