It's all even in the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League semi-final series between Central Plains Capitals and Pembina Valley Hawks.

The Hawks posted a 5-1 victory at the BDO Centre today, squaring the best of 5 series 1-1.

Amy Klippenstein scored the Caps' lone goal, late in the third period. McKenna Wild took the loss in goal.

Another save for Pembina Valley as the Hawks withstood serious pressure from the Capitals

A disappointed Caps' head coach Ferdi Nelissen says they have to be better.

"We outshot them 41 to 21 and we didn't put the puck in the net enough. We were a little bit unlucky, too. We talk about being good, 200 feet up the ice. And we were not very good in our own end to start the game. In the first period, we outshot them 15 to 6. Last period, we outshot them 14 to 4. You can't come out of a period outshooting somebody 15 to 6 and be down 2-0, because you break down."

Nelissen says the team has to have a short memory, with game 3 tomorrow in Morden.

"I thought the second period was pretty even. The first and third periods, we were in their end a majority of the time. I told the girls go out and win the third period -- let's build on something for tomorrow. And that's what we did, and that's what you've got to do. And this group is resilient -- we've seen that. We have good leaders in the room."

Tomorrow's game is a 5:15, in Morden.
