The Central Plains Capitals won 4-1 over the Winnipeg Avros tonight in Manitoba Female Midget Hockey at the BDO Centre.

Capitals' forwards Emily Upgang a Sheridan Oswald each netted a goal in the first, giving Central Plains at 2-0 lead going into the second. The teams traded goals in the second, Kelly-Rae Zdan picked up the Caps' goal.

Both teams had powerplay opportunities in the 3rd, but neither could capitalize on their chances. Eryn Stewart added an empty-net goal for the Capitals late in the frame to seal the win.

Central Plains' forward Amy Klippenstein had an assist on the night. She says they were able to handle the speed of the Avros' attack.

"I think we kept up with them good. We passed the puck well and we've worked on the powerplay this weekend and it made it better."

The Caps are home at the BDO Centre again tomorrow when they host the Eastman Selects at 6:15 p.m.
