The Central Plains Capitals fell 5-3 to the Winnipeg Wild last night in Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey.

Coach Brad Gnidziejko says it was a tough one to take but the game could've gone either way.

"For us, we had a five-minute power play that we couldn't capitalize on and that kind of set us on our heels but we kept the pressure on, we kept playing. It was anybody's game most of the way and then just a couple of mistakes late and the puck was in our net and that's all she wrote."

After a scoreless first period the Capitals led the way in the beginning of the second, Coach Gnidziejko explains.

"We went up two zip and then they clawed back and it was kind of seesawing after that."

The Wild were up 4-3 near the end of the third when the Caps pulled their goalie then with five seconds left in the game Winnipeg scored on the empty net.

The Caps are coming off a five-game winning streak and Coach Gnidziejko notes this loss gives them plenty to build on. He adds a strong finish before the holidays would be really good for the team.

Central Plains faces the Interlake Lightning this afternoon in their final game before the holidays.
